Dolly-Parton
Born on Jan. 19th of 1946, in Locust Ridge Tenn into a low-income family that would ultimately include 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to escape the hardships of life by using her vivid and expansive imagination. The songs she wrote were composed before she could read and write. The guitar that she first received was presented to her at the age of eight. She began singing in a Knoxville Tenn station by the age of eleven. The same year she released her debut recording for Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. While she was in school, she had already established herself within the local arena. However, her goal was to to perform at a much larger size. On the 14th of March, 1964, after her high school graduation, she relocated to Nashville. Her first charting records with Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated television show host at the time was searching for a singer for his program. Parton was offered the gig in 1967 and signed with RCA Records in 1968 and was a part of the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. The year 1974 was the first that she opted to walk away from Wagoner's show because the success of her own solo records like Joshua Coat, Many Colors, and Jolene was outstripping their joint efforts. Parton following the breakup of their relationship with Wagoner she wrote the song"I Will Never Love You and had it reach Number. 1 for the first time since 1974.
