Walker was born in 1976 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Walker is an American citizen who is of African descent. She is the daughter of Harvey Welker a Native American father and Julie Welker an African-American mother. Her father works in engineering while her mother is an agent. Walker received her schooling in the Germantown Friends School located in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood, graduating in 1994. In 1998, she graduated with a bachelor's of arts degree from Harvard College. Welker is married to John Hughes a well-known marketing director at Merck at Philadelphia and has two kids. The couple started an affair during 2014, when they were together. John is her husband and 4 years younger than her. Their relationship was progressing enough that they decided to take their relationship to a new level. The couple wed on March 4, 2017. They were married in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
